Adapting Antigone: After our first term
10/01/2021
Antigone has been the story that drew me and co-Artist, Padraic Riddle, together. Our love for greek theatre and it's grandeur but also the crossroad it has between the universal and the local. We entered our residency with the mindset that we were going to adapt this play with a tightknit ensemble made up of acting college students of all year groups. Whilst also using other students to workshop further ideas.

SYT: National Ensemble Weekend
02/03/2020
Working with Edinburgh College BA Dance and Drama Students I worked with other artists in residence to produce a short selection of films showcasing new work they had create and also previewed ideas that will be developed as part of their final assessments.
We started with nothing and within three weeks we had produced half an hour of content to share with the public. The video streamed exclusively for 48 hours and the feedback we received afterwards was very encouraging. We fulfilled our main goal which was to provide a platform for these artist's work to be shown and seen. This year we hope to produce something of the same vein, this time bigger and better.

On the 22nd and 23rd February 2020 I joined SYT's National Ensemble for a weekend of devising and exploring. The intensive weekend was lead by director Melanie Jordan and was based at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh.
Throughout the weekend I lead two workshops, one focusing on political engagement and the other focused on ensemble practice. Politics being very important because the ensemble are working towards a production focused towards the environment, this worksop was designed for them to engage with their own political
opinions and passions.
During my time with the ensemble I was able to build upon my facilitation skills and develop myself as an applied theatre practitioner. Working with the young artists gave me a fresh batch of inspiration and excitement, getting a glimpse of what they are working towards.
Be sure to keep updated and see when the ensemble are coming to you.

Dear Diary: First Rehearsals

First rehearsals have begun for Company Chimera's 'Dear Diary' set to premiere in March this year. Josie is to direct her six performers with an onsite dramateur writing the script as they devise.
Dear Diary is deep dive into the life of young females in education living in Scotland. The work of the company is looking into exploring themes physically and starting their own company practice. Their goal is to tell a truthful story of what it is like to be a young female in Scotland today, to tackle taboos and empower their young audience.
The company will be performing in two locations to two school groups. Keep looking at this page for more updates on Company Chimera and the Dear Diary

Them and Us and You and Me
On the 11th January, Them and Us and You and Me, premiered at the Studio @ The Festival Theatre. Directed by Peter Machen the show was a double bill performed alongside other Company Chimera members in 'Art in Motion'.
Both shows were extremely successful both showcasing their company members and the chosen theme to the desired effect. The line between dancer and actor is non-existant. Both disciplines blended together seamlessly to create a physical show that was touching and showed a great ensemble practice.
